Meet our Instructors!

These are our instructors for 2025-2026.

Standard / Smooth Instructors

Jonathan Medlin and Malin Allert

Jonathan & Malin are active Championship Level Dancesport competitors with training in all four styles of dance. They are USADance Adult Smooth National Champions, WDSF World Adult Smooth Vice-Champions, and National Collegiate Standard Champions. They are experienced teachers and together they have coached the NCSU Dance team since 2012.

Newcomer Instructors

Caitlin Collins and Connor Dunn

Caitlin and Connor have been dancing since 2016, and have been coaching the NCSU dance team since 2021. They currently dance in all 4 ballroom styles in the Gold level. They primarily coach in the international style for beginner lessons.

Latin / Rhythm Instructor

Ian McAreavy

Ian is an NC State alumni and an Open level competitor in all four Dancesport styles. He has taught Ballroom and Latin dancing for over 13 years for various ballroom organizations, including NCSU, UNC, UNCC, and other privately owned studios.
